Over the past couple of years I've spent a lot of time in the Pentland Hills, running, walking and drawing. I've drawn them from within, upon and from afar. This one is drawn while on the hills listening to cuckoos in April - I was capturing the textures, the way the hills are formed and how the paths are part of the landcape.
There is something both grounding and exhilarating about open spaces - the way they offer an escape from the noise of modern life. Our ancient mountains and hills, formed through volcanic eruptions and sculpted by glaciers, stand as both challenge and refuge. They pull us in, inviting us to explore, to push ourselves, and to find stillness in their presence.
