Over the pst couple of years I've spent a lot of time in the Pentland Hill, running, walking and drawing. I've drawn them from within, upon and from afar. This on is based on the view from the roadside that many will have seen as they drive up towards Edinburgh. I love the shape of the hills against the sky, the texture of the foreground and the sense of space and freedom the hills give.
There is something both grounding and exhilarating about open spaces - the way they offer an escape from the noise of modern life. Our ancient mountains and hills, formed through volcanic eruptions and sculpted by glaciers, stand as both challenge and refuge. They pull us in, inviting us to explore, to push ourselves, and to find stillness in their presence.
