PAINTING: Eastern Pentlands

Over the past two years I've spent a lot of time drawing the Pentland Hills, from within and from afar. This one is inspired by the long line of the eastern side from the moor road between West Linton and Penicuik.

Anyone who has travelled the moor road between West Linton and Penicuik will recognise the moment this view reveals itself — the Pentlands stretching across the horizon beneath huge shifting skies. For cyclists cresting the rise, walkers pausing to take it in, or anyone who knows the quiet beauty of this route, the landscape feels both expansive and deeply familiar.

This painting captures that sense of space, freedom, and connection to the hills, bringing the atmosphere of the Pentlands into your home and offering a lasting reminder of favourite rides, walks, and the changing light and colour across this remarkable landscape.
