This BREAKFAST CUP: CURLEW is a large bone china cup made here in the UK. It features an original design of a curlew bird by renowned artist Sandra Vick, with poetic verse by Cicely Fox Smith, the celebrated English poet. It's a perfect way to start your day with beauty, elegance and a touch of history.
The wording on this lovely curlew design comes from a poem by English poet, Cicely Fox-Smith (1882–1954). She was born in Cheshire, travelled to Canada for 9 years and then lived in Hampshire and Devon. Although most well known for her sea shantys, she writes evocatively of nature, and here in "A farewell", written in 1904 before she travelled to Canada, she describes the call of the curlew across the moorlands.
