PAINTING: Turnhouse in the snow

Over the past two years I've spent a lot of time drawing the Pentland Hills, from within and from afar. This one is inspired by a walk in the Pentlands in the snow around christmas 2024. I was out drawing this in the snow, and it captures the darkness of the trees against the colours of the snow.

There is something both grounding and exhilarating about open spaces - the way they offer an escape from the noise of modern life. Our ancient mountains and hills, formed through volcanic eruptions and sculpted by glaciers, stand as both challenge and refuge. They pull us in, inviting us to explore, to push ourselves, and to find stillness in their presence.
