Over the past few years I've spent a lot of time in the Pentland Hills, running, walking and drawing. I've drawn them from within, upon and from afar. This one is inspired by the view from the Penicuik Estate, where there were green manure flowers flowering. I was drawn to the silhoutted hills and the textures of a flower meadow.
There is something both grounding and exhilarating about open spaces - the way they offer an escape from the noise of modern life. Our ancient mountains and hills, formed through volcanic eruptions and sculpted by glaciers, stand as both challenge and refuge. They pull us in, inviting us to explore, to push ourselves, and to find stillness in their presence.
