PAINTING: Edinburgh

In January 2025, I spent some time drawing the volcanic outcrops of Edinburgh. I love the view from The Braids, and wanted to remove all the extraneous "noise" of the buildings to concentrate on the shapes of the old volcanoes. 

There is something both grounding and exhilarating about open spaces - the way they offer an escape from the noise of modern life. Our ancient mountains and hills, formed through volcanic eruptions and sculpted by glaciers, stand as both challenge and refuge. They pull us in, inviting us to explore, to push ourselves, and to find stillness in their presence.
