A large bone china breakfast cup with robin design and wording by William Wordsworth.
The words around the rim of this robin cup are from a poem called The redbreast and the butterfly" by English poet, William Wordsworth (1770-1850). Wordsworth lived in the Lake District and was part of the Romantic movement of the 1800s. This loyal or pious bird will guard its territory to the death if need be but, for many, a Robin symbolises that a lost one is near. They are also known to symbolise new beginnings and a life, bringing with them fortune and good luck.
